CITY CENTRE

This is self explanatory – it’s the city centre. So shopping is ideal, there is every type of shop you could want. There are bars, restaurants and coffee shops everywhere so you’re sure not to go hungry! York city centre is not the most popular place for students so it’s unlikely your neighbours will be students. The benefits are that you don’t spend anything on travel if you walk to Uni. York University is about a 10-15 minute walk, St. Johns is only 10 minutes. It is a beautiful city and if you appreciate the architecture then this is the student area for you.

Rent is in the higher side of things due to being so central. You are looking at £60-90pppw in reality for your average student house. One thing to bear in mind is that they can be smaller than you might find a bit further out.
