OXFORD

Oxford is a beautiful historic University city located in the South of England, an hour North-West of London. Oxford University is one of the top, if not the top University in the country. There is also Oxford Brooks University located within the city, further boosting the student population in this thriving city.

Population in Oxford is 149,000 people, Oxford University makes up 19,500 students and Oxford Brooks 19,000 students.

 

 Oxford University is one of the few collegiate Universities in the country, with 39 colleges in total with seven permanent private halls. Balliol College is the oldest of them all founded in 1263. One other thing to mention is the intense rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge (Oxbridge), the main event being 'The Boat Race'. Oxford has a population of 135,000; the Oxford Uni students making up 19,500, and Brooks another 19,000 students. So as you can see it is very much a city based around its student population!! Oxford has some of the most spectacular architecture, the colleges being some of the best. Oxford has some of the most incredible Graduates. A massive 25 Prime Ministers have attended Oxford!! Hugh Grant was at Oxford also among many other actors, writers, world leaders, saints....the list goes on! (more info)

Oxford Brooks University - there are 3 campuses; Headingly, Wheatly and Harcourt Hill. Headingly is home to the infamous Gipsy Lane where all the main teaching goes on, nearby is Headingly Hill ,home to the students Union and lots of the Halls. Wheatly is seven miles South-East of Oxford and is home to Business, IT, Maths and not Engineering. Harcourt Hill is to the West of Oxford city centre and is home to lots of subjects including Education, Theology, Philosophy and Media and Communications. Oxford Brooks first year accommodation is found in these Halls: Crescent Hall, Cheney Student Village, Clive Booth Hall, Warneford hall, Cotuit Hall, Clive Booth Non-Onsuite (formerly Morrell Hall), Paul Kent Hall, Lady Spencer Churchill Hall at Wheatley campus and Harcourt Hill Hall at Harcourt Hill. As for Oxfords fun side - there are lots of bars and clubs to go to with an excellent atmosphere. You will not be short of pubs if that is what you like. There is always May Day to let your hair down if you have been working too hard. Eating out is also well catered for with a wide variety of cuisines and budgets.
