FENHAM

Fenham is by far the cheapest of the student areas. It is located to the North-West of the Uni, it is about a 20 minute walk to get to Uni. The area is not known for its beauty, there are no shortage of messy houses and cracked windows in the area, however on the whole it is safe. I would not advise on having a party in any of the local pubs – it could be the quickest way to A&E. There are a lot of locals and a large foreign community within Fenham; as most of you will know by now the Geordies are a very friendly bunch of people and as long as you don’t mess with their pint of Newcastle Brown you will be fine!

The rent is very reasonable in Fenham, it ranges from about £30-55pppw, you won’t find much cheaper than that. Houses are not always huge here but there are plenty of parks and shops to make up for that. There are busses that take you to town if you don’t fancy the walk in the cold or wet.
