DURHAM
Durham has some of the most beautiful countryside in the North East. County Durham has an archive of history behind it, along with hundreds of acres of moorland and unspoilt countryside which can be enjoyed by all.
The Cathedral is undoubtedly the centre piece of the city, visible on your drive in from all directions.
The city itself has the river Wear running through it, this only adds to the fantastic charm of Durham. The river provides great entertainment and water fights in the summer – there is truly no better way to cool off. Durham has miles of bending and sloping streets offering unrivalled shopping. There are a number of traditional pubs and restaurants mixed in with modern and more stylish cafes.
Durham University has colleges spread about the city for year one accommodation mainly. In the remaining years of university or college, areas within the city stand out as being popular with students; for example, the area surrounding the viaduct has some charming houses.
The train station is within close walking distance perfect for those of you who wish to travel North on the short journey to Newcastle (20mins) or Edinburgh (90mins) and South to York, Leeds or London just to name few.
